Reception: Members of the board of directors and staff of the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum were hosts at an event welcoming the newly hired museum President Steven M. Karr. It was at the Sam Noble Special Events Center. Community leaders were invited guests.

Program: Karr was introduced by Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb.

Menu: Hors d'oeuvres were created and served by Dining on Persimmon Hill, the museum’s restaurant.


What/who/where: The 106th annual Inaugural event for the Rotary Club 29 of Oklahoma City was held at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. Judge Jerome A. Holmes was honored as the new president and board members were also among the honorees.

Why: Judge Holmes is a circuit judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He is on several boards including the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, and Water4, Inc. He is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City (Class XX) and Leadership Oklahoma (Class XVIII). Other Rotary Club 29 officers and directors who took office include Tim Strange, vice president; Mike Knopp, secretary, Matt Bown, treasurer; Sherry Rhodes, assistant treasurer; Lisa Hammond, sergeant-at-arms, and Robert Clements, past-president. Directors include Bob Anthony, Jalal Farzaneh, Ellen Fleming, Lance McDaniel, Gary Marrs, Cheryl Borelli, Mautra Jones, John Robberson, Shahla Reynolds and Evan Walter.


Party: Joanna Wilkinson was honoree at a wedding shower in the home of Susan McPherson. Co-hostesses were Sandy Faught, Bev Carter and Barbara Mee. Wilkinson and Leroy Boren will be married in September.

Flowers/food: The table was decorated with orchids, roses, ferns and irises and a figurine of a bride and groom. The food trays featured lemons, limes, mint and hydrangeas as garnishes. There were trays of cucumber sandwiches, cheese and grapes, won tons, and chocolate and lemon cupcakes.

Hostess gift: The hostesses gave the bride-to-be an entertainment set containing a platter, plates and crystal serving dishes to match.

Guests: People at the party included Patti Marshall, Patty Cohenour, Mary Rockett, Marilyn Case, Marian Horning, Jane White, Jeanne Blair, Phyllis Stough, Bette Jo Hill, Kendal Butler, Mandy Qualls, Tanya Henson, Gale Bollinger, Joy Richardson, Jeni Baxter, Diana Beeler, Aimee Merick, LaNita Harris and Debbie Wagner.
