A milestone: Kelsey and Roland Walters celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. Family members and friends gathered to “look back and celebrate 50 years” as was noted on the party invitation. Their wedding reception in 1964 was also at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

Family/music: Guests, including family members, Michele Walters Carey and Mark Carey and Matthew and Julia Carey, Allison Walters McElhaney and Scott McElhaney and Christopher and Henry McElhaney, Siri Price Reksnis and Toren, Lars and Liv Montine Reksnis, Mary and Bill Price, Eileen and Josh Everett, James Price, Susan Walters Bize and Trey Bize, Alexis and Paul Walters Jr., Tia and Brad Adams, Mikaela and Eirik Price not only enjoyed the special buffet dinner and yummy wedding cake, but they enjoyed the music from the era. Disc jockey Ronnie Kaye involved the group, beginning with an introductory dance for the Walters and the hokey pokey and then to the twist. Two of the guests were the maid of honor and best man at their wedding, Judy Goodpasture and Peter McCreight.

The highlights: The ultimate decoration at the front door was a blue Corvette. It was a replica of the one the Walters owned in 1963. Framed photographs of the couple at their wedding and through the years were displayed throughout the country club. Flower bouquets on the tables were pink, coral and white roses, white hydrangeas and green berries and leaves, all reminiscent of their wedding.

Introductions/menu: Roland Walters introduced family and friends from out of town. Dinner was prime rib and Caesar Salad, popular food items in the 60s.

The people: At the party were Barbara and Ralph Thompson, Marilyn and Gene Torbett, Betsy Hyde, Nick Berry, Kathy and Russ Walker, Ron White, SoRelle Fitzgerald, Sharon and John Bozalis, Elaine and Hal Levy, Jeary and Mike Seikel, Debby and Paul Dudman, Jose Freede, Phyllis Stough, Becky Stough, Dian and Royice Everett, Isabel Fuller, Karen and Bob Browne, Linda Steinhorn, Gail and Bill Beals, Virginia Schubert, Jamie and Jae Evans, Charlette and Randy Helms, Ann and Gary Hatch, Judy and Hew Goodpasture, Sandy and Peter McCreight, Maychai Thach Brown and Grant Brown, Carri and Bruce Bell, Patti Marshall, Mary and Vance Robideaux, Susan and Jim Wendelken, Mary Anne Malone, Charles Lutz, Sherry and Lee Beasley, Gwen and Chet Cockrill, Ruth and Jan Norton, Jeanne Anne and Reece Van Horn and Sylvia and Robert Slater, Amalia and Paul Silverstein.

News flash: Chandra Gayle Lewis, daughter of Jennifer and John Lewis, of Los Angeles, will be among the 32 debutantes at the Las Madrinas Ball in December. She is the granddaughter of Kaye and Edward Hahn Cook, of Oklahoma City. The debutantes were chosen for their family’s service to the Southern California community and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The ball, established in 1933, is a philanthropic organization in support of CHLA.

First look: An introduction meeting was held in May at the Saban Research Institute of CHLA, where the debutantes and their families toured the Las Madrinas Pediatric Simulation Research Laboratory and heard about the current Las Madrinas Ball project. The debutantes, their mothers and grandmothers were guests of honor at a tea in June at the home of Las Madrinas president Sarah Cox.
