Party: Elaine Levy was honored at a birthday party. Hostesses were Sherry Bennett, Linda Gardner, Hedra Merson and Edie Roodman in the Roodman home.

Special invite: Guests received an invitation with a photo of the birthday and a poem: “E — is for her eyes so filled with mischief; L — is for her life so full and fine; A — is for her activities so amazing; I — is for her independent mind; N — is for her never-give-up spirit; E — means everlasting friend she’ll stay. Put it all together it spells Elaine. Let’s celebrate her birthday today.”

Menu/cake: The hostesses served tomato, mozzarella, basil on a skewer, fruit and cheese, puffs with chicken salad, deviled eggs, all from Kyles 1025. The banana birthday cake was Elaine’s favorite and was decorated in her favorite colors, sliced fresh oranges and limes and orchids. There was also orange soda with scoops of vanilla ice cream in a cup with a straw.

Takeaway treats: As friends left the party, buckets of neon orange roses were by the door. A sign noted, “Flowers for friends, Take one!”

Guests: Alyson Ray, Jose Freede, Joan Gilmore, Ann Alspaugh, Suzanne Cunningham, Joan Frates, Bette Jo Hill, Carol Asin, Charlotte Lankard, Mary Trachtenberg, Jenny Kallenberger, Jamie Gaddis, Lori Tyler, Jane Milsten, Tina Beal and Jackie Bendorf.

Event: The official screening after-party for “The Posthuman Project” was held at FLINT. The party followed the screening for the world premiere of the movie at Devon Energy Auditorium, where it was awarded best Oklahoma film by the deadCenter Film Festival.

In attendance: Film aficionados visited with the cast, crew and others involved with the creation of the film, which features teenagers who suddenly acquire superpowers. Director Kyle Roberts, NewsOK videographer, shot “The Posthuman Project” on locations around the state. The Oklahoman’s Features Editor Matthew Price and Los Angeles-based comics writer Sterling Gates, originally of Tulsa, wrote the script. Actors Kyle Whalen, Josh Bonzie, Collin Place and Jason Leyva were joined by producers John Scamehorn, Wendy Parker and Sha’ree Green, at the party, which featured a special drink in honor of the film.
