CELEBRATING THE SHOW HOUSE
Occasion: Jose Freede was hostess for the wrap-up celebration of the 41st Orchestra League Show House. The luncheon was at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.
Program: Show House chairman Rhonda White and OL President Debbie Minter recognized board members and gave them black leather tote bags with the OL logo.
Flowers/food: Huge bouquets of tulips, roses, peonies and hydrangeas tied with aqua tulle ribbons decorated the tables and the traditional chicken piccata, English peas, mashed potatoes with sauce, fruit and crème brulee was served for lunch.
Special recognition: Jean Hartsuck talked about the late Jeannette Sias, as she had co-hosted the luncheon with Freede for many years.
New officers: Deanna Pendleton is new OL president. She and her board members take office on July 1.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUSAN
Party: A cocktail birthday party honored Susan Johnston recently. Hostesses were Judy Love, Barbara Brou, Sylvia Slater and Eileen Williams.
Menu/decorations: Guests enjoyed lobster sliders, shrimp cocktail in martini glasses, turkey meatballs, risotto cakes, caprese salad and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus. The birthday cake, topped with flowers, was the centerpiece, flanked by vases of lowers.
Gift: The hostesses gave the honoree a jeweled pendant.
Seen: Leslie Buford, Sarah Bock, Sherry Beasley, Mary Ann Harroz, Nancy Muenzler, Jan Smith, Brenda McDaniel, Mary Coffey, Denna Holmes, Carolyn Moxley, Lois Salmeron and Deneen Tkach were among those at the party.
BON VOYAGE KAY
Luncheon: Chelin Satherlie, Dee Dugan, Mary England and Kay Oliver were hostesses on the terrace at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club for a “Bon Voyage” party for Kay Murcer, who is moving to Dallas.
Party favors: Guests received personalized luggage tags, which also served as place cards. White umbrellas set the stage for the tables, which were decorated with red, white and blue table covers with designs of the honoree’s favorite logo.

SUSTAINER SPRING EVENT
Event: Sustaining members of the Junior League had the spring party in the home of Janie Axton.
Program: President Kristen Brown thanked the group for its continued support of the Junior League and Shannon Love brought copies of the League’s new book “Goodnight OKC” for guests to purchase.
Organizers: Carol Taylor and Elaine Jackson are sustainer co-chairmen.

A SPECIAL RECEPTION
Viewing/reception: Members of the Oklahoma City University Societies recent and past honorees were invited to view the four new plaques hanging in the stairway of the OCU Jones Administration Building. A reception followed. The group unveiled the plaques of the newest honorees of the societies: Anne Gray, Jenee Naifeh Lister, Marion Paden and Linda Whittington. Hosts were OCU President Robert Henry and Provost Susan Barber.
Program: Henry greeted the group. Annie Bohanon, 2014 event chairman gave the update on the February dinner. Co-chairman Jane Thompson gave honorees special pins. She also announced that co-chairman for next year was Ann Johnstone.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELIZABETH
Event: 67 members of the English-Speaking Union met on the closing day of the Show House for the annual celebration of the Queen’s Birthday. Every year ESU clubs throughout the United States meet for a Queens’ Birthday Garden Party.
Decor: A portrait of Queen Elizabeth was set on an easel at the front of the room. It was flanked by an American flag and a British flag.
Program: There was no formal program, but club president Warren Edwards led a wine toast to the Queen during dinner.
Final meeting: Council Grove Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met at Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center. The group commemorated the 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day by bringing a favorite photo of their mothers to the meeting. Several mothers and daughters came together. Hostesses were Libby Hays and Jean Crosswhite.
Remembering mom: Those whose mothers were deceased wore a white corsage and those with living mothers wore pink corsages.
Table decorations: Irises given by Betty Lou McMartin, as well as the photos, were on the tables.
