Party: Victoria Cumbie and Derek Becht were honorees at a couple's shower featuring a tropical paradise theme in the home of Linda Whittington. Co-hosts were Kelly and Chris Fry, and Karen and Chuck Cooley. The engaged couple plan to be married in June and honeymoon in St. Lucia, thus the tropical theme.

Room for bloom: All white hydrangeas, roses, orchids and green bells of Ireland were used for centerpieces.

The food: Party food included shrimp wrapped in phyllo on a stick, tomato basil bruschetta, olive tarts, mini-crabcakes and quiche Lorraine, macaroons and other assorted desserts by La Baguette. Wine was served with pairings by Michel Buthion.

Guests: Among the guests were family members Julie and Scott Cumbie, Mary and Chuck Becht, Alex and Jeremiah Mullock, Kristen Becht, and Helen and Jim Cumbie.

Occasion: Juliana Samara's bridesmaid's luncheon was held at the Coach House. She and Spencer Simon were married Feb. 22.

Hostesses: Dolores Homsey, Margot Bayouth, Sue Homsey, Brittani Bayouth, Kristin Carson, Anna Homsey and Wren Homsey.

Flowers/favors: Each guest was given an “Energy Muse” gemstone and crystal key chain. The hostesses toasted Juliana with the symbolic meanings from ancient wisdom that the stones signify, such as love, happiness, harmony and beauty. Flowers were white- and blush-colored roses.

Seen: Other guests included Leslie Samara, Adeeba Samara, Robin Simon, Nancy Cohlmia, Rachel Bolen, Elizabeth Haggard, Alix Samara, Erika Braver, Rachel Nash, Charlotte Hinkley, Elaine Anderson, Meagan Samis, Cassie Simon and Ellie Simon.

Party perfect: An Italian dinner and miscellaneous shower was held for Laura Thompson and Ev Ernst in the home of Joanie and Blair Holmboe. Co-hosts for the party were Suzi and John Swinford, Missy and Bill Hoehn, Mary and Frank Sims and Mary Geren. The engaged couple plan to be married in April.

Theme: “Vino Veritas” (in wine there is truth), which was handwritten on the invitations.

Menu: Foods included homemade stuffed beef and sausage cannelloni. There were assorted custard cannelloni for dessert.
