THE WINNER IS...
Oscar party: 75 theater actors and art lovers turned out for the annual black-tie Oscar party at Will Rogers Theater despite snowy weather conditions. Previous parties have been held at Grand House, both Rococcos, Picasso Cafe, the Prohibition Room and Cafe Nova.
Movie-themed foods: On the menu were Ginger orange pork skewers (“The Hobbit:” The Desolation of Hog); meatloaf sliders (Despicable Meatloaf for “Despicable Me 2”); club sandwiches (“Dallas Buyers Club” Sandwich); scones (The Scone Ranger for “The Lone Ranger”); Brussel Sprouts (American Brussel Sprouts for “American Hustle”), and Waldorf Salads (Wolf of Waldorf Salad for “the Wolf of Wall Street”) and Oscars in a Blanket. Oscartini drinks were served.
Selfies The group had fun during the party re-creating Ellen Degeneres’ Oscar Show selfie.
Shower: Kellie Hefner was the honoree at a baby shower in the home of Carol and Robert Hefner IV. Hostesses were Iman Berglan, Alexis Burckart and Gabrielle Hefner. Kellie and Robert Hefner V are expecting twin sons in May.
Twice the fun: The honoree received two of everything including baby bedding from Restoration Hardware. Guests played games to guess the babies’ arrival date and names.
Décor/menu: A four-tiered diaper cake was the centerpiece and blue and white hydrangeas in crystal vases wrapped with blue organdy ribbons decorated the house. A rubber duck floated in the silver punchbowl. Iced blue and white baby buggy cookies were served along with croissant sandwiches and fruit skewers.
The men arrive: The baby’s dad and grandfathers came in at the end of party and celebrated with the group.
Celebration: To celebrate National Women’s History month, the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women had the second annual High Tea OKC in the home of Judy Love. About 100 women and three men attended the event.
Program: On the program was Terry Neese, founder/CEO of IEEW, and Mary Melon who talked about her experience as a mentor with the institute’s “Peace Through Business” program.
Committee: Judy Love and Susan Chambers were co-chairmen and other hosts were Jan Hill, Pat Carr, Freda Deskin, Jacqueline Fox, Linda Haneborg, Gail Huneryager, Nancy Hyde, Lou Kerr, Sandy Meyers, Jeaneen Naifeh, Kim Neese, Marion Paden, Natalie Shirley and Dawn Welch. The Tea was sponsored by Love’s Travel Stop and Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Co.
Why: This event was started as a way to raise awareness in the community about IEEW and to empower business women.
