Gala: 400 Oklahoma City Junior League members and guests celebrated the 85th anniversary with a party at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. They recognized the past by introducing past presidents and past award winners. They recognized the present with a video about the impact the JL has had on the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. They recognized the future by presenting 85th anniversary gifts to the YWCA and Myriad Botanical Gardens. Accepting for the YWCA was Jackie Steyn and for the Myriad Gardens was Maureen Heffernan.

Decorations/menu: Tall vases of roses and green hydrangeas decorated some of the tables and other tables had short vases filled with roses. Cloths were black and white striped. Thinly sliced beef tenderloin Carpaccio and lobster risotto fritter, white asparagus soup and an assortment of desserts of chocolate truffles, pralines, mini creme brulees, strawberry parfaits and mini cupcakes were served to the partygoers. Another group, which didn't come for dinner, arrived at 9 p.m. for the Encore Bash and dancing. Souled Out Band played.
Looking beautiful: For the formal event guests wore long and short dresses including: Karla Wallace, short rose-colored dress with rhinestone straps; Jeary Seikel, white chiffon top with gold slacks; Kay Oliver, navy blue short dress with ruffles; Cristi Reiger, navy blue floor-length dress with chiffon appliqued overlay; Becky Howell, dusty rose silk long dress; Katie Moore, sequined strapless white long dress; Adrienne Nobles, gray silk long dress; Jose Freede, white glittery pantsuit; Miki Farris, black- sequined short dress; Whitney Tero, white rose-patterned ballgown with one shoulder strap.
HONORING KELSEY AND BLAKE
Cocktails/dinner: A prenuptial event honored Kelsey Quillian and Blake Renegar. Their wedding is set for July. The party was in the home of Terry and Hank Bradley. Co-hosts included Candy and Chuck Ainsworth, Barbara and Bud Beeler, Cheryl and Steve Browne, Patty and Tom Anthony, Susan and Ramsey Drake, Shirley and Pete Everest, Susan and Mike McPherson, Marty and Robert Margo, Barbara and Bill Miller, Randy Polk, Carol Solomon and Jane and Jim White.
Decorations/Dinner: The buffet table was decorated with Hawaiian grass trimmed in flowers. White twinkle lights were in backyard trees, and flowers were around the swimming pool. Tiki torches were on the front drive. Mai Tais, adorned with paper umbrellas, were created by Candy Ainsworth. Spring rolls, Polynesian ribs, crab cakes, chicken skewers and assorted dips were among the menu items.
HONORING MADELYN AND BLAKE
Event: Madelyn Russell and Blake April were honored at a Mexican Fiesta dinner and wedding shower at Esperanza Club House. The engaged couple will be married in August. Both are recent University of Oklahoma graduates.
Tables/dinner: Tables were decorated with a festive Mexican theme, and a Mexican buffet dinner was served.

PINK AND BLUE
Party: Lauren Steakley Brollier was the honoree at a baby shower in the home of Linda and Ron James. Hostesses were Linda James, Emily Blaschke, Georgene Blaschke, Timi Burch, Anna Homsey, Sue Homsey, Adrienne Husted and Laura Kirkpatrick. They gave the honoree a baby swing. Lauren and Tucker Brollier are expecting a baby in June.
Theme: Pink and blue flowers, cookies and cupcakes were used in decorations and food.
Attendees: Among the guests were Libby Steakley, Linda Roberts, Lauren Mincey, Mary Sue Shelley, Judy Lehmbeck, Billie Austin, Patty Cohenour, Grenda Moss, Susan Hoffman and Naureen Hubbard.
Reception: Oklahoma Christian University unveiled the new front door of the University and the Lou Phillips Welcome Center in Garvey Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by OC board members, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. The reception in the Welcome Center included a tour of the new facility, lemonade, treats from Eileen's Colossal Cookies and a popcorn bar. One hundred people attended including philanthropist Jose Freede who helped fund the construction of the Center.
History: During more than three decades at Oklahoma Christian, Lou Phillips was a longtime executive assistant and later served as coordinator of special projects. She worked closely with five OC presidents, J. Terry Johnson, Kevin Jacobs, Alfred Branch, Mike O'Neal and John deSteiguer, and also served on the board of the Oklahoma Christian Women's Association until she died in January.
Special words: Just before Phillips died, she told President deSteiguer to “take care of OC.” Those words are displayed in the Lou Phillips Welcome Center.
Purpose: The new facility will be a beginning point for campus guests, including future students and parents who tour the university. The venue will also house OC's Office of Events and Campus Coordination.
Occasion: Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae members held the annual spring picnic in the home of Sue Timberlake.
Special presentation: Leah Logan, Theta Alumnae District XI director, talked about the Theta National Organization and how the local chapter benefits from membership.
