OU'S ORDER OF THE OWL
Occasion: University of Oklahoma College of Law's Order of the Owl Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction was held in the Molly Shi Boren Ballroom of the Oklahoma Memorial Union. Four honorees were selected for the Order of the Owl, a group that honors law school graduates who have been outstanding stewards of the legal system. Initiated by OU College of Law Dean Joseph Harroz Jr., the Order of the Owl pays tribute to individuals who demonstrate leadership and service through outstanding accomplishments in their legal careers. Four hundred people attended the event.
Inductees: Inducted this year were Judge Michael Burrage, Kathy Taylor, Judge Ralph Thompson and Judge Lee West.
Party: Paige Frenzel was honored at a baby shower. She and husband Mike Frenzel's baby girl is due in December.
Hostesses: Cathy Cross was hostess, and co-hostesses were Patsy Carey, Janie Cook, Ann Fleming, Susie Gray, Marilyn Henley, Debbie McCord and Mary Reneau. They gave the honoree bedding for the baby's room.
Flowers/food: The centerpiece was an antique cradle filled with flowers. Included on the menu were spicy chicken and baby bootie iced cookies.
Seen: Guests included Amy Edwards, Susan Edwards, Eve Patterson, Janie Axton, Christy Johnson, Nancy Herzel, Debbie Pitman, Kim Joseph, Cheryl Browne, Ginger Johnson, Patsy Hosman and Ferrelyn Oakes.
HERE IS THE JUDGE
Event: Annie Bohanon honored Chief U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange at a cocktail party in her home. Judge Miles-LaGrange was one of the 2013 Oklahoma Hall of Fame inductees.
Flowers/toast: The Bohanon home was decorated with pink roses, the honoree's favorite flowers. Bohanon gave a toast to the honoree and talked of their longtime family friendship.
Guests: Judge Jerome Holmes, Nancy and Judge Timothy Leonard, Judge Arlene Johnson, Von Creel, Rex Travis, Robert Dennis, Judge Ron Howland, John Hermes, Gary Chilton, Henry Browne, Ed Barth and Joan Frates were at the party.
Exhibit: The opening reception for James Sullivan's “Le Corps Propre” was held at the Artspace at Untitled Gallery. His artwork will be there until Jan. 4. It is the first time his pieces have been shown in Oklahoma City.
Seen: Among the 100 people at the reception were James Sullivan, Mick Cornett, Mary and John Seward, Sam Fulkerson, Suzanne Mitchell, Amanda and David Crismon, Ben Pickard, Nancy Whitenack.
What/who/where/when: Tulsa residents Anne and Bob Rosser celebrated their 50th anniversary at the same Sonic Drive-In in Stillwater that they have been going to for 49 years as an anniversary tradition. Sonic employees helped make the event special by bringing out tablecloths, china and silver, crystal candlesticks and candles, a bouquet of yellow roses and a violinist to serenade them. Store manager is Patti Hall.
How: They ordered their favorites: two cheeseburgers with mustard, onion rings to share, a cherry limeade and chocolate malt, of course!
