Anniversary celebration: Barbara and William G. “Bill” Paul celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 27 with a dinner at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club.
Guests: 300 people were at the party including their four children and five of their nine grandchildren. Children are George Paul, Phoenix, Ariz.; Alison Miller, Portland, Ore.; Elaine Seidel, Pacific Palisades, Calif.; and Steve Paul, Broken Arrow. Spouses and children are Darren, Will, Lauren and Addie Seidel and Laura, William and Megan Paul.
Theme: Theme for the celebration was “Value Family and Friends Above All Else.” Coasters with that theme were given to all of the guests. Poster-sized photos from the Paul's wedding album were set on easels around the room.
SIP AND SEE
On the town: Baby Jack Brollier, five-month old son of Lauren and Tucker Brollier, was the honoree at a Sip and See party in the home of Kanela Huff. Hostesses were Barbie Borlaug, Cheryl Browne, Jill King, Kathy Loggie, Tina Stubbs and Huff.
Invitation: The invitation stated that guests were invited to meet “Libby's newest grandbaby.” Libby Steakley is the baby's grandmother.
Food/flowers: There was smoked salmon, pork tenderloin, various dips and monogrammed petits fours. A signature orange mint drink was also served. Flowers on the tables followed a blue and white theme with blue hydrangeas, white tulips and white mums.
Buffet dinner: The 1963 Class of Harding High School met to celebrate its 50-year reunion. A dinner was held at The Waterford Hotel and Judy Ferguson, Betty Picket and Jo Tarr provided entertainment. Al Blake, a musician and blues singer, from Los Angeles, Calif., played harmonica for the crowd.
Special memories: Susan Moorman and Kaye Adams compiled a 275-page reunion book about their years at Harding with pictures of classmates.
Committee: Clark Musser, Susan Moorman and Marty McCharen spearheaded the reunion and committee members were Kaye Adams, Tommy Davis, Rick Gentry, Porter Morgan, Bun Baker, Judy Ferguson, Carol McPheeters, Mary Deanne Streich, Patty Casteel, Lynette Hader, Joe Briley and Rindy Hyde.
Special guest: Former foreign exchange student Sergio Echeverria from Spain and his daughter Teresa were at the event.
Other activities: The group also went to Toby Keith's in Bricktown one night and were at the school for a tour and an assembly led by Clark Musser, Sherry Rowan and Justin Hunt and had lunch at Johnnie's.
Seen: Brooke and Mike Murphy, Dadie and Bob Bishop, Margaret and Curt Holdridge, Lil Hamor, Kenny Miracle, Sandy and John Maravich, Ann and Bob Looney, Emily Remmert, Taffy Fellingham, L.Z. Brown, P.K. Copeland, Susan and John Frank, Carolyn and Richard Howell were at the reunion.
11th ANNUAL OC GALA
Event: The dinner for the Oklahoma Christian University Associates Gala was at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum and 750 people attended.
Awards: Meteorologists Gary England, Mike Morgan and Damon Lane received the Lee Allan Smith Spirit of Oklahoma Award from Smith and OC President John deSteiguer. They were chosen for their efforts to keep people.
Speaker: Oklahoma City Thunder broadcaster Grant Long was keynote speaker.
Special presentation: OC alumni Jennifer Simonds, Cindy Lowe and Kevin Hixson were presented $1,000 each for classroom supplies from Alfredo's Mexican Café. Simonds teaches at Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore and Lowe and Hixson teach at Briarwood Elementary in Moore.
Alumni celebration: A banquet was held at Casady School's Calvert Hall hosted by the school alumni association's board of directors. It honored the 2013 Alumni Award Winners and members of the Golden Cyclones, members of the classes that graduated 50 years ago or more from Casady. The event was held during Casady's Homecoming activities.
Honorees: Award winners were Hunt Lowry, Distinguished Graduate; Nancy Latting Spelman, Alumni Achievement; and Jonathan Fowler, Young Alumni Achievement.
TAILGATE PARTY HONORS BRAMBLES
Occasion: Heritage Hall headmaster Guy Bramble, and his wife Julie, were honorees at a special tailgate party at Heritage Hall Upper School honoring their 25th anniversary at the school.
Guests: Patrons, alumni, faculty, friends and students were invited to the party which was hosted by the school's board of trustees. 300 people attended.
Food/decor: Blue and white checked cloths were on the tables and centerpieces were mums wrapped in the school's colors of blue and gold. Venue 104 catered the tailgate party.
Program: A slideshow featured photos of the Brambles from the past 25 years. There was a performance by the music students and the cheer squad. Guests wrote personal notes and took photo-booth pictures to assemble scrapbook pages to commemorate the event. The Brambles were presented with No. 25 football jerseys to wear to that evening's football game where they received special recognition at halftime.
History: The Brambles are parents of Heritage Hall alumni Kristen Ferguson and Jamie Bramble. They arrived at the school in 1988. The party was given was given by the school community in appreciation of their dedication and service.
Who/what/where: Sustaining members of the Junior League of Oklahoma City met in the home of Carole Drake for a fall coffee.
When/why: The event was in September and speakers were Kristen Brown, Junior League president, and Shannon Love, Mistletoe Market chairman.
Luncheon: The MacDowell Club of Allied Arts members held the annual fall luncheon at the Quail Creek Golf & Country Club. Peggy Guthrie presided.
Musical entertainment: Two string quartets from the University of Oklahoma played. Playing in the Undergraduate Honors String Quartet were Philip Gamble and Chase Ward on violins; Lane Perkins, viola; and Cody Byrum, cello. The Crouse Quartet was Philip Oja and Tristan Selke, violins; Shaohong Betty Yan, viola and Paula Santa Cruz, cello. Visual artist was Charlotte Hickman, quilt artist.
