OKLAHOMA DERBY HAT CONTEST
Tea: The Oklahoma Derby Hat Contest and tea party was held Sunday on the Clubhouse level of Remington Park as part of Oklahoma Derby Week.
The ambience: The Clubhouse Level at Remington Park was decorated with a balloon archway and tables were filled with tea sandwiches, mini quiches, eclairs and gourmet cupcakes and iced tea and lemonade. Red and white roses decorated the tables.
Hats: Women wore big hats, little hats, hats decorated with horses and ones with huge bouquets of flowers and feathers. One had an oil rig, the State Seal and Oklahoma flag. One woman had an umbrella hat decorated with Thunder items. Many of the women matched their hats to their dresses.
Winners: Kaylie Henderson (Most Creative), Claludia Rebeca Jones (Most Elegant), Melissa Miller (Best Ensemble), and Ryan Marie PeGolia (Best Overall).
LINDSEY AND MATTHEW
Party: Lindsey Alyea and Matthew Love were honorees at a buffet dinner and wedding shower in the home of his aunt and uncle, Judy and Tom Love.
Centerpiece: White chrysanthemums in crystal vases decorated the buffet table, along with porcelain bride dolls.
People: Linda Alyea, Christian Alyea, Carrin Page, Becky and Josef McGuigan, Jennifer Springer, Bennett Berry, Nancy and Philip McNayr, Mitzi and Andy Waner, Jamie and Tom Levescy, Dianne and Dr. Andrew Black, Bernie and Adam Wile, Dinky Hamman, Marinell and Dr. Ralph Guild, Dr. Teresa Folger, Deb and G.W. Wedding: The engaged couple will be married in November.
KARA AND JUSTIN
Couple's shower: Kara Keeton and Justin Rice, who were scheduled to be married Saturday, were honored at a couple's wedding shower given by Lana and David Lopez, Vicki and Jack Richards, Jane and David Thompson, Andy and Mike Snyder, Nancy and Kim Kimberling and Cheryl and Tom Hewett in the Lopez home.
Decor: The party was held outdoors around the swimming pool and on the tables were lanterns filled with seashells and candles. The party featured a beach theme since the couple got engaged in Florida and planned to be married there.
Menu: Smoked tuna dip and crabcakes, seafood boil (served in buckets by white-aproned hosts) and key lime pie.
Gift: The hosts gave the couple a coffee-table book about Seaside, Fla.
Guests: Katie Treadwell, Kristen and Joe Carson, Kimberlyn Hall, Maggie and Blair Humphreys, Hillary Jenney, Aimee and Aaron Ahpeatone, Abbie Parker and Brook Smith were among the guests.
ELISABETH AND ROBERT
Event: Elisabeth Austin and Robert Howell were honored at a cocktail party in the home of Mary Streich. Co-hosts were Emily Remmert, Carol McPheeters and Joe Briley. The couple were married Sept. 22.
Table: Purple and yellows orchids decorated the table and the Streich home. On the menu was fresh shrimp, pork tenderloin, baked Brie and lemon and chocolate cookies.
Seen: Guests included Kris and Bill Frankfurt, Nancy and Scott Chapline, Virginia Schubert, Janie and Bill Comstock, Betsy and Bob Thorpe, Ed Barth, Beverly and Robert Caldwell and Ferrelyn and Bill Oakes.
Reception: There was an opening reception honoring artist Andrew Peters at the Howell Gallery. His paintings included paintings from the Wyoming Wind River Range, the mountain ranges of Colorado, as well as scenes of his home state of Iowa. The exhibit will be shown until Saturday.Oct. 13.

OKLAHOMA CITY BALLET
Party: Annie Bohanon entertained at an event in her home. Two new choreographers for the Oklahoma City Ballet, John Gardner and Amanda McKerrow, were introduced. The ballet troupe was there to discuss the upcoming ballet season.
