s22-helenC CELEBRATING 75

Event: 75 members of the early American Glass Club celebrated their 75th anniversary with a party in the home of DeAnn Parham. Kamela Gamble catered the dinner with foods from the various decades of the club, including a 1970s green fondue pot and also a bowl of little Smokies.

Theme: “Decades of Diamonds.” “Diamonds” were everywhere, including table scatters, chandeliers, tiaras and hung on crystal ropes from the ceiling. The signature drink was a Champagne cocktail, and party favors were white Frankoma trivets with the invitation logo.

More decorations: Cutouts of people from the decades were set around the Parham home, including life-size Audrey Hepburn, Elvis, Liberace, Sean Connery, Marilyn Monroe and Tatum Channing. Mirror balls were hung in a tree at the front door.

Excellent ideas: The club has been meeting monthly since 1938 in members' homes. They get out all of the wonderful china, crystal, silver that they use when they are decorating their tables for the very special Guest Day Luncheon in May at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. (This year it was May 14).

Special touches: Frances and Ted Oney drove a 1930s car to the party. There was a slideshow presentation of 600 photographs taken through the years, including a bylined story by Nan Sheets from 1938.

Seen: Susan Robertson, Samonia Byford, Sharlene Branham, Jan Smith, Jodie Kerr, Marjorie Polk, Cheryl Hewitt, Patty Stevens, Kathy Lippert, Mila Hill, Nadine Holloway, Phyllis Brawley, Margaret Ann Sanders, Pam Couch, Tommy Palmer and Imogene Collins.

Party/shower: A “Sugar and Spice”-themed baby shower was held for Pam Campbell. She and her husband, Daniel Campbell, are expecting their first baby, a girl, in December.

Hostesses: Carol Plemmons, Heather Primas, Elizabeth Williams, Jennifer Sims, Lisa Korstjens and Lee Camargo-Quinn were hostesses for the party.

Special gift: Pamela's mother, Betty Gutel, created a special gift for the baby. She crocheted a white dedication gown with hat, cardigan and blanket.

Seen: Guests at the shower included Betty Gutel, Hayley Gutel, Leigh Campbell, Lacee Harrison, Kristen Brown, Natalie Johnson, Amy McDougall, Nicole Dobbins, Mandy Heaps, Kimberly Swan, Shelly Soliz, Lisa Boevers, Rachel Klein, Mary Quinn, Nancy Waggoner, Wendy Mounger and Jennifer Wallis.

Banquet: The Lawyers Helping Lawyers Foundation Cornerstone Banquet was held at the Oklahoma Bar Center. The event supports Oklahoma lawyers with addiction and mental health challenges.

Speaker: Comedian and humor columnist Argus Hamilton was guest speaker. Theme was “Pass the Bar — Every Chance You Get.”

Decor: Tables followed a construction theme with blueprints, yellow hard hats and yellow mums decorated with caution tape.

Seen: Dean Valerie Couch, Reggie Whitten, Phil Fraim, Clif Gooding, Noma Gurich, Doug Combs and Steve Barghols.
