CELEBRATION IN ORANGE
Occasion: Marnie and Clayton Taylor were hosts for a party in their home to honor Clayton Taylor's selection as a 2012 Oklahoma State University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni.
Wearing the orange: The hostess wore orange slacks and a black top with her OSU cowboy boots. The honoree wore an orange shirt with OSU logo. Bob Hammock wore his orange “Gas Cap” from OSU football in the early 1970s. Almost everyone else wore some orange clothing as the invitation stated “casual attire, orange appreciated.”
Menu: All orange foods were served, including sweet potato biscuits with ham, pot stickers with orange dipping sauce, roasted carrots, mini carrot cupcakes and orange iced cookies.

Award: The award, an engraved crystal bowl, was presented by OSU President Burns Hargis on the football field during half-time of the OSU game earlier in the day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSS
Party: Kirsten Cash surprised her husband, Dr. Ross Cash, with a 40th birthday dinner in their home. Eighty friends and relatives surprised him as he walked in the front door with his cousin, Rick Howard, after they attended a football game.
Signs of the times: Posted on the walls were pictures of the honoree through the years and “Fads and Firsts from the 1970's,” a list of which included skateboards, food processors, walkman, video arcade games.
Dinner: Barbecued beef was served to the guests along with beer and wine. Cookies with M&Ms were served, and party favors included Ross Cash's favorite candy, Sweet Tarts. A compact disc of music from 1972 was also given to guests.

Event: The Junior League of Oklahoma City members kicked off their 85th year of service at the September General meeting with President Cristi Reiger presiding. The event was at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. A social hour preceded the business meeting.
On the agenda: Amy Parrish and Tyfanna Johnson talked about the upcoming Mistletoe Market set for Oct 11-13 at the Cox Convention Center. Sara Crooks and Katie Moore spoke about 85th Anniversary events and Reiger announced that The Outlet Shoppes of Oklahoma City has chosen the JLOC as its nonprofit partner. Proceeds from the purchase of coupon books at the Outlet Shoppes, as well as valet parking tips, will go directly to the league.
Party: A prenuptial shower given by Jeanne Bronson honored Michelle Durrett, who was scheduled to marry Jeremy Whitlow on Saturday Sept. 22 in Oklahoma City.
Menu: The afternoon event featured a variety of desserts including cupcakes and mini Bundt cakes.
Gifts: Guests brought everything from the couple's patterns in bowls and serving dishes to a crystal bowl from Ireland. There was also a silver picture frame with the wedding date engraved on it from the honoree's PEO group.
Attending: Becky Skidmore, Claudia Kovar, Cindy White, Kari Webster, Diana Drazen, Berta Fay Rex, Marloana Pitts, Patricia Robinson and Jordan Oglesby.
Kitchen/linen shower: A party honored Kara Keeton in the home of Katie Treadwell. Kara and Justin Rice will be married in October in Florida. Co-hostesses were Susan Bernardy, Kristin Carson, Hillary Jenney, Erica Keeton, Johannah Kersey, Robin Mason, Karen Mayfield, Susie Parker, Treadwell and Lori Williams.
Food/flowers: Chicken salad and cucumber sandwiches were served along with cheese and various dips. Ivory petit fours inscribed with J and K in coral and seafoam and chocolate cookies were served for dessert. The centerpiece on the dining room table featured coral and white roses. White hydrangeas filled a tall vase floating on top of a vase of seashells representing the seaside wedding theme.

PI BETA PHI ALUMNI KICKOFF PARTY
Event: Members of Pi Beta Phi Alumni met at Ruth Meyers Inc. Hostess was Cindy Shelby and the theme was “Friendship and Fashion Matter.”
Speakers: President Dee Richardson told about the Pi Beta Phi National Awards won by Betty Huckabay and Hilarie Blaney. The group's awards at the National Convention were Club of Excellence, Excellence in Communication and Top Ten Pi Beta Phi Foundation Contributor.
Fashion show: Shelby, owner of Ruth Meyers and a member of the group, reviewed fashion trends for fall with informal modeling and prizes.
