Bridesmaids' luncheon: When Kylie Beal married David Gutzman, both of Dallas, on Aug. 24 in Park City, Utah, the bridesmaids' luncheon was held at Cafe Terigo. Hostesses were four of the nine bridesmaids and their mothers, Ashley Nowak, Eileen Everett, Becky Tanenbaum and Marion Parke, Brenda Anderson, Mary Price, Glenna Tanenbaum and Linda Garrett.

Theme: The luncheon had a French theme because Kylie loves all things French. Flowers were bouquets of pale pink garden roses and Dusty Miller foliage on gray-patterned tablecloths.

Guests: Tina Beal, Linda Gutzman, Mary Fleske, Diana Fleske, Barbara Moon, Sue Adelbush, Sue Ellen Gutzman, Christina Cain, Kristine Gutzman, Lisa Gutzman, Lori Karam and Natalie Smeltzer were among the guests.

Drink/lunch: A special drink called La Belle Mariee was concocted, and lunch included grilled salmon salad, vegetable sandwich and Risotto with smoked chicken and chocolate creme brulee or profiteroles with chocolate sauce and Laduree macaroons.

Gifts: Each guest received a small pink purse with chocolates from Sucre in New Orleans. The bridesmaids received monogrammed robes created by the bride's mother and grandmother and matching cosmetic bags created by Sody Clements. They also received earrings to wear at the wedding.

Special touch: Linda Garrett wrote the menu and place cards in pink calligraphy.

50th anniversary party: Mary Ann and Dr. Joseph Harroz celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club. Hosts were their children, Sherry and Dr. Raymond Cohlmia, Samia and Joe Harroz, Susan and Greg Silvernail, and their eight grandchildren.

Decorations: White orchids and hundreds of candles decorated the Quail Creek Ballroom.

Dinner: Dinner for the 130 people included chicken and beef tenderloin with mushroom Madeira sauce, along with Italian cream and chocolate wedding cake and Champagne for toasts. Guests were greeted with specialty martinis.

Entertainment: Randy Lunsford provided 1960s music and a video/slideshow presentation depicted the couple's 50-year marriage.

Special touch: A special blessing was given.

For fun: The grandchildren decorated their car with gold streamers, balloons and a “Just Married (50 Years Ago)” sign.

Party: David Cathey, The Oklahoman's food editor had his first book signing and reception at the Full Circle Bookstore. His new book is “A Culinary History of Pittsburg County: Little Italy, Choctaw Beer and Lamb Fries.” Friends and readers were at the event to celebrate the book that details the origins of Choc Beer and the frontier roots of Pete's Place, The Isle of Capri, Lovera's, Roseanna's and GiaComo's in Pittsburg County.
