A VERITABLE GARDEN
Luncheon: Following the theme “Planting the Seed and Lighting the Way,” 170 Junior League members met for lunch at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club, and honored sustaining members Kathy Walker with the Mary Baker Rumsey Award and Adelaide Liedtke, with the Sustainer of The Year Award. Tables were decorated with white lanterns and candles, and bouquets of fresh tulips and other spring garden flowers.
Special touches: Linda Garrett and Lee Camargo-Quinn, luncheon chairmen, and their committee members decked the table in the Great Hall with flowers and lanterns and a sign that said “Welcome to the Garden where we grow and bloom … Volunteer-ily.” Place cards were decorated with sprigs of blooming rosemary. Pomegranate spritzers were served and each glass was decorated with a satin leaf and a note tied with green and pink ribbons saying “Cheers to Adelaide” and “Cheers to Kathy.” A chocolate dessert featured a candy mint with the Junior League logo. Tiny pansies and other edible flowers decorated the plate.
Speakers: Junior League President Cristi Reiger gave the welcome and Linda Garrett and Kristi Leonard closed the luncheon. Sody McCampbell and Peg Malloy and Ann Marshall introduced the honorees.
Committee members: Garrett, Camargo-Quinn, Shannon Bass, Jessica Hunt, Kristi Leonard, Ashley McCubbin, Adrienne Nobles, Rachel Stuart and Becky Taylor.
Honorees: Liedtke and Walker talked about the Junior League and their experiences in the League and the community, and Walker closed her remarks wearing a fur cloche that the League's first president, Mary Rumsey, might have worn.

Kitchen shower: Jessica Vaughn was honored recently at kitchen shower. The party also featured a cooking demonstration by chef Loretta Oden. Vaughn and Carter Tamlyn will be married in June.
Hostesses: Shannon Edwards, Kathy Barrett, Jill Groce, Jane Gillett and Colette Buxton gave the party in the Edwards' home.
Tables/menu: Tables were decorated with clear vases with bouquets of lilies, tulips and Gerber daisies. The menu was bison potpies, three sister quinoa salad, smoked salmon and chocolate bread pudding with blackberry and mango puree.
Party favors: Sugar cookies in kitchen shapes, including spoons, rolling pins and wooden spoons, were given to the guests.
Guests: Among those attending were Alexis Austin, Liza Thompson, Ryan Buck, Peyton Groce, Jordan and Rhonda Richey, Amanda Flickner, Tracey Shannonhouse and Anne Hasenfratz.
Party: Donors for the May 16th “Fandango at the Harn: A Night on the Prairie” were honored at a preview party in the Gaillardia home of Sharon and Bob May.
Catering/entertainment: Chefs from Platt College provided food. Entertainment was by the Charles Scott duo and the Jake FM Girls.
Artwork: Artist Joy Richardson painted in the library and asked guests to paint a decorative object on the canvas. The art piece was raffled off in a drawing. Ira Schlezinger held the winning ticket and donated it to be raffled again at the Fandango event.

Who/what/where: The 56th annual State Conference of the Colonial Dames XVII Century was held at the Holiday Inn in Ardmore.
Luncheon tables: Tables were decorated by the Washita Trace chapter in the society's blue and gold colors. Favors were gold acorns with blue and gold ribbons.
Baskets: The delegates helped to fill baskets for women veterans. They will be donated to the Women's Outpatient Clinic at the Oklahoma Veteran's Medical Center. State Veteran's committee chairman is Pat McFall.
Attendees: Fran Davis, recording secretary-general, National Society CDXVIIC, and Ellen Jayne Wheeler, Oklahoma State president, CDXVIIC, were among the women at the conference.
