FOR THE LOVE

Event: Judy and Tom Love were hosts for the 50th anniversary Gala for Love’s Travel Stops.

Decorations/dinner: In front of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum sat two large fuel tankers branded with the Love's anniversary logo and Thunder playoffs. Inside, there are the Love’s heart logos and 17 8x13 murals of photos from the past 50 years. The stage held a black backdrop with a large Love’s trademark echo heart attached. Centerpieces were black and white balloon clusters with a heart and “50” signs. Dinner was steak and salmon (Tom’s favorite) and a lovely array of mini-desserts. Rombauer wines were served.

Program: The program was very short. Jenny Meyer Love welcomed everyone and introduced Father Rick Stansberry who gave a prayer. Then her dad, Tom Love, took the stage and noted he had been only given four minutes to speak. His gracious and humble words touched everyone in the audience of 725 people.

Best dressed: Hostess Judy Love wore a red lace applique cocktail dress with a satin sash.

Entertainment: The Midtown Men, (four stars from the original cast of Broadway's Jersey Boys) performed early 60s music for the main entertainment of the evening. Cocktail music was by Michael Kleid. Dinner music was by Matt Blagg Trio.

People: Guests were friends, family and longtime employees including Lisa and Greg Love, Laura Love, Jenny Love Meyer and John Meyer, Malia and Frank Love, Francie Love, Thomas Love, David Love, Caroline Love Cameron, Liza Cameron, Claire Cameron, Alyson Love Meyer, Emma Love, Julia Love, Nancy and Bob Ellis, Jane and Gerald Gamble, Danna and Kirk Humphreys, Charlotte and John Richels, Ann and Bill Johnstone, Pam and Bill Shdeed, Betty and Herschel Crow, Debby and Paul Dudman, Bette Jo and Frank Hill, Susan and Mike Turpen.

ENGAGED!

Engagement party: Lauren Anthony and Jimmy Miller were honored at an engagement party given by her parents, Patty and Tom Anthony. The engaged couple will be married in January.

Ambience: The weather for the event was 70 degrees so guests gathered around the swimming pool. The bride-to-be’s father gave a toast to the couple. Hot pink peonies and orange Gerber daisies were on all the tables.

Guests: At the party were Sher and Steve Miller, Barbara and Bud Beeler, Susan and Peter Hoffman, Kathy and Hal Brown, Becky and David McCubbin, Lucinda and David Huffman, Penelope and Nabil Stouji and Brooke Anthony and Kelly Anthony.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCIA

Birthday party: Marcia Shaffer celebrated her 90th birthday with a party at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club.

Family members: At the event were 60 people including her sons and wives, Jay Shaffer and Hope Flammer, Gary and Becky Shaffer, and Bubba and Molly Shaffer, and grandchildren Marshall Shaffer, Stockton Shaffer and Sam Shaffer. Daughter Carol Sands could not be at the party.
