Heritage Hall senior Lindsey Grace admits there were some bittersweet feelings for her and the other Charger senior volleyball players when they played their final match together earlier this month.
Of course, the sweet far outweighed the bitter when Heritage Hall was finally holding the state championship trophy once again.
Grace, along with fellow senior starters Bradi Ryan and Sydney Collison, helped bring Heritage Hall its ninth state volleyball title, and first since 2008, with a 3-1 victory over Lincoln Christian in the Class 5A championship match on Oct. 19.
“It took awhile to sink in,” Grace said. “At first, it was good and sad at the same time. The seniors were sad it was our last game together, but it was a good ending, and that's all that mattered.
“It has definitely been fun getting to design a championship ring and stuff like that.”
Ranked No. 1 in 5A virtually all season, the Chargers were the team targeted as the favorite all the way through.
