He's going 1,700 miles to finish marathon

DUNCAN -- Eight blocks from the end of the Boston Marathon, David McCord was stopped by police and not allowed to finish the event.

But McCord is determined that he will have complete the marathon in his former hometown of Comanche, 1,700 miles from where he started in Hopkinton, Mass.



The Duncan Banner reports that McCord plans to end his venture April 29 with his former community cheering him on.

It will be a communitywide event at the Comanche High School football stadium.

The newspaper reports that he will speak to children -- and others -- about running and his experience. Then, he will take to the running track.
