Bill Brunone of Marietta, Georgia, writes:

Marilyn: It was easy to walk away from the question about the SUV and the economy car without understanding your meaning. (September 20, 2009) The question should have read: "Jack drives a gas-guzzling SUV 15,000 miles per year, and it averages 10 mpg. His wife drives an economy car the same distance and gets 30 miles per gallon. The couple wants to use less gasoline. They can afford to trade Jack's polar-bear killing, evil, disgusting, child-crushing, tornado-creating, tsunami-generating, global warming-enhancing SUV for another dastardly SUV that gets 13 mpg with a happy, ......." Don't you think this hits it better?

Marilyn responds:

Good grief, Bill! First, I didn't write the question. And second, the question didn't imply any of this stuff. I think you're exaggerating just a teensy bit.
