A hot, windy day is ahead in central Oklahoma, the National Weather Service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 97. South wind 21 to 24 mph with gusts as high as 33 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 72. South wind 17 to 22 mph with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 89. South wind 18 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 72. South wind 16 to 21 mph with gusts as high as 29 mph.

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny with a high near 87. South wind 14 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 71.

Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before 1 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 87.

Friday night: Mostly cloudy with a low around 69.
