High School Athletes of the Week: Chandler's Heath Gray, Piedmont's Connor St. John turn in strong performances

Chandler junior Heath Gray went 5-0 last week at 170 pounds, finishing off his perfect week with a victory by pin in the Chandler Invitational championship finals. Connor St. John was part of three conference record-setting performances Monday.

Wrestling

Heath Gray, Chandler 

The Chandler junior went 5-0 last week at 170 pounds, finishing off his perfect week with a victory by pin in the Chandler Invitational championship finals. He is now 22-0 this season, placing first at all four tournaments the Lions have competed in. He was third in the Class 3A State Tournament last year at 160 pounds.

Swimming

Connor St. John, Piedmont

St. John showed why he was named the Suburban Conference male swimmer of the year at Monday's conference meet. He was part of three conference record-setting performances — two individually, in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke, and one as part of the 400 freestyle relay team along with Tyler St. John, Justin Rein, and Jarrod Rein.
