High school athletes of the week: Evan Anderson, Garrett McLaughlin turn in strong performances

Anderson was 5 for 7 with a home run and two doubles in two Dale wins.

Evan Anderson, Dale

Anderson was 5 for 7 with a home run and two doubles in two Pirates' wins. In a 4-2 win over Class 6A No. 2 Yukon on Friday, Anderson was 2 for 4 with a home run and threw seven innings, striking out eight and allowing one earned run.

Boys soccer

Garrett McLaughlin, Heritage Hall

Heritage Hall completed the regular season unbeaten as McLaughlin, a freshman, scored three goals and had one assist in the third-ranked Chargers 4-1 victory over No. 8 Northwest Classen on Tuesday night.

Girls soccer

Sidney David, Noble

The senior defender is a big reason why Noble has been scored on just one time this season. She helped the Lady Bears blank Durant, 2-0, on Tuesday night as Noble won the district title and finished unbeaten in the regular season.

Boys track

Nick Cagle, Meeker

Cagle picked up a pair of gold medals in the middle distances at the Konawa Invitational, winning the 400 meters in 51.06 seconds and the 800 meters in 2:02.08.

Girls track

Jasmine Robinson, Shawnee

The senior, who recently signed to play volleyball at Cornell, won three golds at the Tulsa Washington Hornets Track Classic. She helped Shawnee win the 1,600-meter relay and took individual titles in the 100 hurdles (16.35 seconds) and 300 hurdles (47.21).
