High school athletes of the week: Kassidy Scott, Bailey Cook and Ben Barrett earn top honors

Softball

Kassidy Scott, Piedmont

Scott's huge week earned her national honors, as she was named the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week. She hit .750 in five games with two home runs, 11 RBIs, 10 runs, two doubles and three triples. Scott also went 2-0 in the circle, allowing just one hit and striking out 13 in six innings of work.

Volleyball

Bailey Cook, Mustang

The senior led the team in digs and kills from her outside hitter position, earning a spot on the all-tournament team during Mustang's 5-0 run to win the Southmoore Tournament last weekend. At 14-5, Mustang moved up to No. 15 in this week's Class 6A rankings.

Cross country

Ben Barrett, Norman North

Barrett held off a field full of state title contenders to win the OK Runner Classic in Norman with a time of 16:20. Norman North took second overall but was the highest-placing Class 6A team at the course that will host a 6A regional next month.
