High school athletes of the week: McGuinness' Erin Eckart, U.S. Grant's Yesenia Garcia among top performers

Erin Eckart scored the only goals in McGuinness’ 2-0 win over Westmoore on Tuesday night, a much-needed district victory for the Irish for purposes of playoff seeding.

Boys soccer

Trevor Moore, Edmond North

Moore had a goal and an assist in the Huskies’ 3-0 win over Putnam City North last Thursday to keep Edmond North undefeated on the season, now 11-0.

Girls soccer

Erin Eckart, McGuinness

Scored the only goals in McGuinness’ 2-0 win over Westmoore on Tuesday night, a much-needed district victory for the Irish for purposes of playoff seeding.

Boys track

Landon Huslig, Deer Creek

The senior swept the hurdles at the Yukon Classic, taking the 110 meters in 14.45 seconds and the 300 in 38.41. He also ran on the Antlers’ winning 1,600-meter relay team, helping Deer Creek to a second-place team finish at the meet.

Girls track

Yesenia Garcia, U.S. Grant

Garcia pulled out a narrow victory in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.65, and contributed on the Generals’ relay teams, helping U.S. Grant pull out the All-City Conference title. The Grant girls scored 174 points, with Northwest Classen second at 160.
