High school athletes of the week: Moore's Sable Hankins, Mount St. Mary's Sam Bennett among week's stars

Hankins, a senior third baseman, was moved to leadoff hitter Sept. 13 and took off, posting 19 hits over the last nine games. The Lamar commitment entered Tuesday hitting .521 with 29 RBIs and then had two hits and two RBIs during the Lions' 11-1 win against Edmond North.


Amy Serowski, Southmoore

Serowski, a four-year starter, has sparked the SaberCats during a recent run that saw them crack the top 10 in the Class 6A rankings at No. 9. For the year, she leads the team in kills, serving aces, passing and digs.

Cross country

Sam Bennett, Mount St. Mary

Bennett blazed to victory at the Oklahoma Baptist University meet in Shawnee, clocking a winning time of 17:47, which was 17 seconds better than the rest of the field.

Girls cross country

Abbey Mace, Norman North

With her teammates right behind her, Mace won the individual title at Holland Hall's 3,200-meter race on Saturday in 11:51. Teammates Belle Wallace and Isabella Rose took second and third, respectively, each finishing within nine seconds of Mace as Norman North won the team title.
