High school baseball: No. 1-ranked Red Oak run-rules Caney at Class B state tournament

Red Oak will play No. 8 Leedey and top prospect Drew Ward at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Edmond Memorial High School.

EDMOND โ€” Top-ranked Red Oak used a 13-run inning to rout No. 15 Caney 15-1 in five innings on Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the Class B state tournament at Edmond Memorial.

Tanner Crockett went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Eagles, who turned a 1-1 ballgame into a rout in the second inning.

Bryce Deatherage (4-0) earned the win, while junior Trent Delay took the loss for Caney.

Leedey 5, Olustee 3

Leedey took advantage of two errors by No. 10 Olustee to advance to the semifinals.

The Bison jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and then held off any rally attempt by the Eagles.

Senior Kamoen Watkins earned the victory for Leedey, which lost to Arnett in the state championship game last fall. Freshman Brandon Goldston went 2 for 4.

Dylan Sanchez took the loss.

Asher 12, Stuart 0, 5 innings

Zach Fowler and Tim Johnson combined on a no-hitter as second-ranked Asher flexed its muscles en route to the semifinals.

Fowler threw three innings, while Johnson pitched the final two.

Fowler also contributed at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Sean Fleming also homered and drove in two runs.

Sentinel 9, Lookeba-Sickles 4

Brock Carter had two doubles and drove in two runs to lead No. 9 Sentinel past No. 3 Lookeba-Sickles.

With the game tied at 1 in the second, the Bulldogs posted three runs to take advantage of the game. They then added two more in the third, putting the Panthers in a big hole.

Senior Weston Cole earned the victory.
