Morris, a 6-foot-8, 262-pound senior, chose the Shockers over Oral Roberts, Lamar and Florida Gulf Coast, announcing his decision live via webcast on NewsOK.com.

“Wichita State is getting a kid who is just now starting to tap into some of the physical promise he has,” Edmond Memorial coach Shane Cowherd said. “He's very explosive, and his quickness belies his size. He's so physically strong, but he's very quick, almost cat-quick at times. He's very mobile, and he's starting to tap into those tools.”

Morris averaged 13.0 points and 5.6 rebounds at Edmond Santa Fe last season, and moved to Memorial in the summer. He adds a post presence to the Bulldogs' lineup that has been absent in recent seasons.

Edmond Memorial reached the state finals the last two seasons, winning it all in 2011, without a player taller than 6-foot-4 on the roster.

“He gives us a low-post scorer, a shot blocker and a rebounder,” Cowherd said. “He allows us to do some things defensively that we haven't been able to do in the past. The guys on the perimeter know they have somebody behind them anchoring the rim.

“He's a fun kid who fits in really well with our boys, and he's a great teammate.”
