Piedmont was dominant for two of the first three quarters Tuesday night against Bethany. The other two quarters, though, nearly derailed the Wildcats' chances.
Piedmont regained control just in time, though, closing strong to pull out a 68-58 girls basketball win.
Piedmont led by nine after one before Bethany outscored the Wildcats 16-5 in the second to take the lead.
Piedmont regained control in the third, building a nine-point lead, but Bethany cut the less to two before the Wildcats closed with a 9-1 run to end the game.
"We made a lot of mental mistakes,” Piedmont coach Amanda Tims said. "We've definitely got to work on breaking those habits.”
Kayden Carver came off the bench to score 19 points for the Wildcats. Kristin Hager had 18.
Grace Hadley scored 34 to lead Bethany, one game after scoring a career-best 36 late last week.
BOND LIFTS ST. MARY IN OT
Mount St. Mary's Kaely Bond was perfect from the free-throw line in overtime, hitting all eight of her shots to lift the Rockets to a 62-57 win over Heritage Hall.
Heritage Hall was close to pulling off a big comeback, leading 49-47 in the closing seconds after trailing by seven going into the fourth quarter. But Jordan Braun hit a jumper with 25 seconds left to force overtime.
Bond led St. Mary with 21 points. Braun added 14.
Erika Wakefield led Heritage Hall with 29, 22 after halftime.
SOUTHMOORE SCORES 97
Four Southmoore players scored 18 or more points as the SaberCats blew out Del City 97-62.
Serithia Hawkins led Southmoore with 22 points, Cydni Campbell had 19 and Kyeria Hannah and Kayla Tucker scored 18 each.
The SaberCats blew the game open with a 33-point third quarter.
Del City's Dionna Collins had 28 points.
BIG FIRST BOOSTS NORMAN NORTH
Bri Kuestersteffen scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter to help Norman North to a 51-41 win over Westmoore.
Norman North scored 21 in the first, then added a big third quarter as well to put the game away.
Haley Woodard added 10 for Norman North.
Sydney Chastain led Westmoore with 15.
BIG SECOND HALF BOOSTS PC NORTH
Nakylia Carter scored six points in the fourth quarter to help Putnam City North come back from a halftime deficit to beat Putnam City 53-49.
The Pirates led by six at halftime before the Panthers tied it by outscoring Putnam City 14-8 in the third.
Sidney Carolina led the Panthers with 14 points.
Jayden Oliver had 19 points to lead the Pirates.
ANDREWS HELPS MCGUINNESS PAST PONCA CITY
McGuinness sophomore Maddie Andrews had 10 points to help the Irish to a 45-40 win over Ponca City.
Allison Frey scored six of her seven in the fourth to help McGuinness hold on.
Cheyenne Hull scored 16 ti less Ponca City.
Tamara Lee scored 23 points to lead Class 6A No. 1 Edmond Santa Fe to a 51-40 win over Yukon. ... Bailey Taylor led Shawnee with 23 points, and McKenzie Cooper added 18 as Class 5A No. 1 Shawnee beat Harrah 71-37. ... Jasauen Beard scored 20 to help Midwest City to a 68-23 win over Moore. ...
