High school basketball: Putnam City West boys upset Putnam City in OT

On Saturday night, the tangible proof of that learning process showed up on the scoreboard in the Patriots' 57-53 overtime upset of No. 3 Putnam City.

A young Patriot lineup continues to show its capabilities. Sophomore Kemarrie Carter led PC West with 15 points, while Tyson Jolly and Travon Moore — a sophomore and junior, respectively — combined for all six of the team's overtime points.

David Bush made one of two free throws with 2.5 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. He led the Pirates with 18 points.

MEMORIAL PULLS AWAY IN EDLAM SHOWDOWN

With Jordan Woodard back on the floor for a couple of weeks after a 12-game absence, second-ranked Edmond Memorial is beginning to find its stride again.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the second half for a 78-61 win over Edmond North in a Class 6A regional final.

Shaquille Morris had a game-high 25 points, and Woodard added 21 as Memorial advanced to the area winner's bracket, where it will face PC West next week.

“Jordan really gets us going, gets everybody involved,” Morris said. “He's a true point guard. We were hurting without him, but we believe we can go all the way if we can keep this chemistry flowing, and do what we've got to do every day.”

Carlbe Ervin scored 20 points to lead Edmond North, which will face Putnam City in an elimination game next week at a site to be determined.
