McGuinness doesn't plan on stopping there.

“Our goal this year is to become the first McGuinness football team to ever win a 5A state title,” said Irish quarterback Jacob Lewis.

Lewis is a big reason why Carl Albert, Guthrie and the rest of the 5A gang might need to take notice. The 6-foot-3 junior was unstoppable, throwing for 104 yards and two touchdowns on just 14 attempts and rushing for 132 yards and a couple of scores.

Lewis played running back as a sophomore last season but looked like a natural passer Friday night.

“We had a really good quarterback last year, so I understood why they played me at running back,” Lewis said. “But I was really eager to get back to playing quarterback.”

Lewis said he was clocked at 4.4 in 40-yard dash over the summer, and he certainly looked quick in leading the Irish in rushing.
