There’s little debate among the coaches of District 4A-2 that Ada is the favorite to win the crown.
But there’s plenty of debate over the next few spots in the poll.
Five teams — Ada, Tuttle, Glenpool, Harrah and Bristow — each received at least one second-place vote from the coaches of the district.
TUTTLE’S BALLARD EXCITED ABOUT OFFENSE
Amid a coaching change and a move from 3A to 4A, Tuttle is still expected to keep churning out success, and it’s likely to start with the offense.
New head coach Brad Ballard has an experienced group to work with on that side of the ball, starting with quarterback Jett Jobe, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior who completed 67 percent of his passes last year.
Jason Biddy, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound junior, gives the Tigers a stout running back option, and senior Tate Odam is an experienced receiver.
The defense, guided by first-year defensive coordinator Ty Gower, has less experience, but Biddy and Odam are among the small group of returning players.
FREDRICKSON, ROBERSON ATTRACT ATTENTION AT HARRAH
Looking to get back to the playoffs once again, Harrah will rely on a couple of big players to help get it done.
Logan Roberson is one of the top offensive linemen in the state’s junior class. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Roberson has started since he was a freshman and is attracting a lot of Division I interest already.
Another three-year starter, Jordan Fredrickson has multiple small-college programs in pursuit of his 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame. He will play a key role for the Panthers at strong safety and wide receiver.
McLoud must replace Joseph Wood, one of the school’s most successful quarterbacks in recent years, but top receiver Bryson Garcia is back after accounting for nearly 900 yards. Coach Eric Cardin calls Garcia “the leader of our team and a very tough player.”... New Tecumseh coach Jason Murray has 17 total returning starters to work with in his first season... Bristow coach Brett Jones will rely on a lot of sophomores, including quarterback Ira Hurst.
