Mustang had taken a 30-20 advantage as Travis Mitchell snagged an Edwards throw between two Lawton defenders and over one of them at the Lawton 35-yard line. Mitchell completed a 69-yard scoring play. Mitchell had leapt for a 38-yard second-quarter TD strike.

“I haven't seen a Lawton team yet that doesn't scare you to death,” Prestidge said. “It could have gone either way. The biggest play was Travis Mitchell going and scoring to put us back up.”

Dallas Sealey scored on three TD runs. Sealey's third TD put Lawton ahead 20-16 with 8:33 to go in the third. Edwards plunged into the end zone from 1 yard out around a Blake Williams block as Mustang took back the lead 23-20 at the 4:02 mark of the third.

Mustang rallied from a 14-7 deficit to lead 16-14 at halftime. With 23 seconds left, Mustang caught Warren in the end zone for a 9-yard loss and a safety led by Tucker Calmus. Mustang finished a 16-point second quarter with the score.

Edwards heated up after a slow start against the wind. Edwards hit 2 out of 7 passes in the first quarter for 15 yards, but he completed 7 out of 12 tosses for 99 yards and two touchdowns in the second quarter with the wind.
