High school football: Gunnar Ewing is Fans' Choice Player of the Week

Ewing received 988 votes, trimming Guthrie running back Kai Callins.

Fueled by a late surge, Hollis' Gunnar Ewing held off Guthrie's Kai Callins to win the Fans' Choice Football Player of the Week fan poll on Wednesday.

Ewing and Callins were locked in a back-and-forth battle most of the day, with Ewing pulling ahead late in the afternoon and eventually winning by a mere six votes.

Ewing rushed for two touchdowns and had an interception in Hollis' semifinal win against Apache last week. He finished with 988 votes.

Callins finished with 982 votes.

Steven Parker, Jenks: 44 votes (0.96 pct.)
