In the third quarter, while attempting to catch a pass in the flats, Frankfurt took a brutal hit that he never saw coming. The hit left Frankfurt on the ground for several minutes before he was helped off the field.
“He got my ribs pretty good. I just hope none of them are broken,” said Frankfurt.
However, the hit would not leave the sophomore out of the game for long. He came back in for a decisive 57-yard touchdown run that put the Saints up 22-10 with just 2:55 remaining.
“I saw him (Frankfurt) on the sidelines coughing up blood,” said senior wide receiver Blake Barnes. “And then for him to come in and put the game away like that was just awesome.”
Barnes, the Saints' top receiver, finished with nine receptions for 92 yards.
The Saints advance to the state semifinals for the first time since moving up to 11-man football in 2002.
OCS coach Derek Turner understands how special this playoff run has been for his program, but he believes they are far from done.
“We have a really unique team unity that has allowed us to continue getting better each week,” said Turner. “This is unchartered territory for us, now let's go have some fun.”
Stroud (11-2) was led by senior running back Ryan McElvany who finished with 116 all-purpose yards.
OCS (12-1) will play Frederick at a neutral site next Friday night in the Class 2A semifinals.
