LAWTON — Lawton head football coach Randy Breeze said his team has some key players ready to step up and contribute. One player in particular is Kalin Sadler.
The senior wide receiver and No. 28-ranked player on The Oklahoman’s Super 30 recruiting rankings for the class of 2015, is in prime position to make a splash this season.
“We want to work to get where we want to be,” Sadler said. “We don’t want to talk about the state championship too much. We don’t want to think it’s given. The main focus is to be humble.”
Sadler has one Division I offer, that from New Mexico. Breeze said the season will help produce a lot of attention from other schools.
Breeze said Sadler reminds him of former Oklahoma receiver Ryan Broyles.
“His biggest asset is his first step,” Breeze said. “His yard-per-catch average last year was one of the highest in Class 6A.”
The 2013 season was big for the small-ish wideout (5-foot-11, 185 pounds), who lines up in slot formations. In 12 games played, Sadler had 27 receptions for 455 yards and four touchdowns. He ran the ball 15 times for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Sadler played defense for the Wolverines, too. He had five tackles and one interception.
