EDMOND — John Kolar was breathing a sigh of relief following Norman North's 42-35 win over Edmond North on Friday night at Wantland Stadium.
Kolar was in the zone with 326 yards passing and no interceptions. But as Edmond North worked hard to erase a 14 point deficit in the fourth quarter the junior quarterback admitted he was worried the No. 8-ranked Timberwolves' big night might have been squandered.
“They're a heckuva team,” Kolar said. “They had me nervous there for a little bit.”
Edmond North (4-3 overall, 3-1 District 6A-3) scored on a two-yard run from Zack Jenkins and a 21-yard pass from Stephen McClernon to Ezel McIntee, leaving them one successful onside kick away from a chance to tie the game in the closing minutes of the game. But Norman North's special teams were able to handle the onsides kick and the Timberwolves (5-2, 4-0) ran out the clock.
Kolar had passes of 56 and 54 yards, and a 50-yard touchdown pass to Nick Basquine, who finished with 176 yards receiving. Kolar also finished with two rushing touchdowns.
