High school football: Norman North looks toward Jenks

Timberwolves have real respect for Jenks and also carry burden of entire side of state.

Standley doesn't plan to address the streak with his team directly.

“We really don't talk about those things,” Standley said. “They don't pertain to what we're trying to do here.

“All these guys care about is the game and that's what we're going to work on.”

When Standley arrived in Norman two years ago, he quickly realized that the pieces were in place for just such a run.

That involves not getting discouraged by streaks, worrying about another team's mystique or letting anything else distract from the ultimate goal.

“These young men, from Day One, they've just been focused from week-to-week and from day-to-day,” Standley said. “It's cliche but that's the way this team has been.

“It's more about what we do as a team and what we can control than anything else.”
