— Oklahoma Christian coach Derek Turner noticed a sense of belief in his players, even before Friday night's game against top-ranked Millwood began.

“The kids who usually get nervous and throw up before the game, they weren't throwing up,” Turner said with a laugh. “Our kids knew from the get-go. They believed it. We weren't nervous.”

The Saints' calm minds — and stomachs — helped produce arguably the biggest win in the program's history, 22-18 over Millwood at OCS.

The Saints have won big games before, like the season-opening win over Metro Christian a few weeks ago. But this was a district game against the No. 1 team in Class 2A.

“We've never beat a No. 1 team before,” Turner said. “And the history, there's probably not a more storied, history-filled team than Millwood. They were the No. 1 team and we beat them, and it's an awesome feeling.”

The sophomore running back took a screen pass on third-and-10 from the Millwood 42, and slashed upfield, running into a pair of Millwood tacklers around the 30-yard line. But the 170-pound Frankfurt was able to bounce off and outrun the rest of the defense to the end zone for the go-ahead score.
