The ball has not bounced in favor of Putnam City North much this year, but the Panthers' good bounce could not have come at a better time. A tipped pass was caught by Kaedyn Fuller for an overtime touchdown, and PC North scored a 21-20 upset of No. 9 Midwest City on Thursday night at Putnam City Stadium.
Midwest City's R.J. Goodman scored on the first play of overtime, a 10-yard touchdown run, but the Bombers missed the point-after try for a 20-14 lead.
On the PC North possession, quarterback Chase Sparks' pass toward Fuller was tipped as it came out. Fuller never lost sight of it and came down with the ball in end zone to tie the game at 20. Chace Campbell delivered the game-winning extra point, giving the Panthers their second win of the season after starting 0-4. PC North is 2-1 in District 6A-3.
“It was a well-thrown ball from Chase, and I knew I didn't want to come down without the ball,” Fuller said.
Midwest City fell to 4-2 and 1-2.
