High school football: Putnam City forces seven turnovers, trips No. 8 Westmoore

MOORE — Quarterback Devin White bounced on the Putnam City sideline Thursday night and fist-bumped his teammates with 10.8 seconds left to play in the Pirates' game against Westmoore.

Putnam City knocked off Class 6A No. 8-ranked Westmoore 26-16 at Moore Stadium, and White said he couldn't have been happier. He completed 5 of 11 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown.
“I feel really excited because everybody didn't think we could come out here and play as a team and beat Westmoore,” White said. “We just showed up and played our game tonight.”
Amid the celebration at the 50-yard line, Putnam City (4-2 overall, 2-1 District 6A-2) coach John Wofford beckoned his players to the west 35-yard line and told them to take a knee. He talked about what a good team Westmoore (4-2, 2-1) is and how scary it can look on film.
Then he told his team why he believed they won the game.
“You're starting to see what happens when we play without a team of individuals,” Wofford said. “We gotta be one heart beat, one team.”
