High school football roundup: No. 1 Tulsa Union upset by Owasso

Quarterback Jaylen Lowe's 1-yard run with 24 seconds remaining gave Class 6A No. 6 Owasso to a 38-35 upset of top-ranked Tulsa Union. It was the Rams' second straight last-minute victory over Union.

The Redskins (2-2, 0-1 District 6A-1) had taken a 35-31 lead on Hunter Atyia's 38-yard TD pass to Justin Silmon midway through the fourth quarter. Owasso (1-2) responded with a 15-play drive that ended with Lowe's game-winning score. Lowe scrambled for a first down on a third-and-11 play at midfield, and later converted on fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive.

Lowe was 14-of-19 passing for 269 yards and two TDs. He ran for 94 yards on 15 carries.

Tigers coast past Newcastle

Cooper Koons threw two touchdown passes and Jesse Gregory scored twice on short runs, leading No. 2 Tuttle past Newcastle 41-3 in Class 3A-1. Coons had a 45-yard TD pass to Dawson Bassett to start the scoring for the Tigers, and later hit Seth Odam from 12 yards out. Gregory scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards.

Tuttle outgained Newcastle (1-3, 0-1) 261-169.

OCS routs Crooked Oak

Class 2A No. 8 Oklahoma Christian compiled 448 total yards and Austin Brooks threw three TD passes in a 56-8 victory over Crooked Oak. Brooks threw scoring passes of 25 yards to Cole Peak, 22 yards to Garrett Kilborn and 41 yards to Blake Barnes. Kilborn also scored on a 10-yard run for OCS (3-1).

Guthrie shuts down Guymon

Class 5A's top-ranked Guthrie Bluejays opened District 1 play with a 62-0 victory over Guymon. Guthrie (4-0) held the Tigers to 4 total yards — minus-20 rushing on 26 carries, and 24 yards passing.

Bryan Dutton accounted for six touchdowns, throwing four TD passes and scoring on two short runs. Two of the touchdown throws went to Cody Reihs. Guthrie also got three TD runs from Trey Smith including a 51-yarder.
