Quarterback Jaylen Lowe's 1-yard run with 24 seconds remaining gave Class 6A No. 6 Owasso to a 38-35 upset of top-ranked Tulsa Union. It was the Rams' second straight last-minute victory over Union.
The Redskins (2-2, 0-1 District 6A-1) had taken a 35-31 lead on Hunter Atyia's 38-yard TD pass to Justin Silmon midway through the fourth quarter. Owasso (1-2) responded with a 15-play drive that ended with Lowe's game-winning score. Lowe scrambled for a first down on a third-and-11 play at midfield, and later converted on fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive.
Lowe was 14-of-19 passing for 269 yards and two TDs. He ran for 94 yards on 15 carries.
Tigers coast past Newcastle
Cooper Koons threw two touchdown passes and Jesse Gregory scored twice on short runs, leading No. 2 Tuttle past Newcastle 41-3 in Class 3A-1. Coons had a 45-yard TD pass to Dawson Bassett to start the scoring for the Tigers, and later hit Seth Odam from 12 yards out. Gregory scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards.
Tuttle outgained Newcastle (1-3, 0-1) 261-169.
OCS routs Crooked Oak
Class 2A No. 8 Oklahoma Christian compiled 448 total yards and Austin Brooks threw three TD passes in a 56-8 victory over Crooked Oak. Brooks threw scoring passes of 25 yards to Cole Peak, 22 yards to Garrett Kilborn and 41 yards to Blake Barnes. Kilborn also scored on a 10-yard run for OCS (3-1).
Guthrie shuts down Guymon
Class 5A's top-ranked Guthrie Bluejays opened District 1 play with a 62-0 victory over Guymon. Guthrie (4-0) held the Tigers to 4 total yards — minus-20 rushing on 26 carries, and 24 yards passing.
Bryan Dutton accounted for six touchdowns, throwing four TD passes and scoring on two short runs. Two of the touchdown throws went to Cody Reihs. Guthrie also got three TD runs from Trey Smith including a 51-yarder.
Guthrie had all its points by halftime.
Seminole slips by Perkins
Mike Snyder's move into a tie for No. 2 on Oklahoma's all-time wins list was far more difficult than his previous milestone.
Snyder, longtime coach at Seminole, saw his team rout McLoud 62-24 last week to give him his 300th victory. On Friday night, the Class 3A No. 4 Chieftans edged past Perkins 14-7. Snyder is now tied with Bruce Hendrickson on the career victory list.
Doc Harvey's 3-yard TD run in the third quarter proved to be the game-winner. Seminole's first touchdown came on a 24-yard run by Trent Newsome in the first quarter.
Preston Walker threw three touchdown passes to Tristan Lacey and ran for a score as Class A No. 6 Crescent defeated Carnegie 48-14. Walker's TD throws covered 13, 18 and 9 yards. Michael Chronister added touchdown runs of 26 and 59 yards for Crescent (4-0), and Devon Bledsoe returned a kickoff 89 yards for a TD.
Late TD lifts Davenport
Matt Miller scored on a 1-yard run with 28 seconds left to tie the game, then ran for the 2-point conversion to give Class B No. 7 Davenport a 36-34 victory over Weleetka.
Davenport (3-1) drove for the game-winning touchdown after getting the ball near midfield with 3:10 remaining and no timeouts.
Kevin Thomas scored twice for Davenport and Tanner Lyon returned a blocked punt 55 yards for a score.
Sink scores six TDs for Anadarko
Class 4A No. 7 Anadarko got six touchdowns from junior running back A.J. Sink in a 47-0 victory over Cache. Sink scored Anadarko's first six touchdowns, including a 69-yarder, and finished with 194 yards on 19 carries. Quarterback Brandon Pollard ran for 71 yards on nine carries and completed 5 of 7 passes for 67 yards for the Warriors (4-0).
Meeker 56, Haskell 34
Jake Standlee threw three touchdown passes and ran for a TD in leading Meeker past Haskell 56-34. One of Standlee's touchdowns went to Nick Cagle, who also scored three rushing touchdowns.
Alex Wheeland accounted for four of Haskell's five touchdowns. He scored two on the ground, including a 56-yarder, and threw for two others.
