To say Yukon dominated Putnam City North in the Millers' 49-21 victory on Friday night would be an understatement.

Running back A.J. West had 100 yards rushing with three minutes left in the first quarter.

Wide receiver Codey Sanchez had three touchdown receptions, including two 60-yard scoring grabs, one from his quarterback Hayden Somerville and another from tight end Brandon Andraszek.

The Millers' version of the Belldozer, senior quarterback Blake Biggs, had touchdown runs of 44 and 26 yards from the Wildcat formation.

Yukon (5-5 overall, 5-2 in District 6A-3) wrapped up the win at halftime with a 35-0 lead to lock up third place in the district.

The Millers now get a rematch with Norman on Thursday in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. The Tigers defeated Yukon 34-21 in September, a game the Millers led at halftime.

The loss means Putnam North (6-4, 4-3) finished fourth in the district and will face Edmond Santa Fe on Friday in the opening round of the playoffs at Wantland Stadium.

On Friday night at Putnam City Stadium, it appeared the game for third place in the district meant more to the Millers than it did the Panthers.

“We weren't really afraid to play either of the teams, Santa Fe or Norman, but we thought it would be a better matchup for us to go to Norman again,” Sanchez said. “We hope it's different this time.”

Yukon coach Todd Wilson said he is bringing a better and more confident team to Norman next week than he did in September.
