LADY BOMBERS HOPING TO BE FULL STRENGTH SOON

Midwest City wasn't at full strength for Tuesday's 44-40 road win over Norman North.

The Lady Bombers were missing three players with at least some starting experience due to various injuries.

Ajia Davis was out with a torn meniscus, Chelsea Olds with a fractured shin and Raven Gaddis with a concussion.

“We're hoping they'll all be back around the time the playoffs start,” Midwest City coach Art Bode said.

Davis was averaging around eight points with a 7.5 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. Olds was also averaging eight points and four rebounds.

Norman North was without some firepower of its own as Haley Woodard missed the game after having her wisdom teeth pulled earlier in the day.

TUTTLE WRESTLER SELECTED FOR ALL-STAR SQUAD

Zach Beard of Tuttle was named Wednesday to the Team USA All-Star wrestling squad which will compete in the 39th Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic in Pittsburgh, Pa., on March 17.

Beard was selected for the all-star roster at 170 pounds. He will compete for a Team USA squad that will wrestle against an all-star team from Pennsylvania at the University of Pittsburgh.

Beard is unbeaten the past two seasons for Tuttle and is seeking his fourth consecutive state high school championship this year. Only 26 high school wrestlers from Oklahoma have won four individual state titles.

DESTINY CHRISTIAN PAIR GARNERING INTEREST

Destiny Christian offensive lineman Shaun Edwards and running back Dion'Tay Washington are quietly receiving interest from recruiters across the state.

Edwards at 6-foot-7 and 315 pounds was receiving interest early from Houston, but now he is likely to remain closer to home at either East Central University, Oklahoma Baptist or Emporia State (Kan.), according to assistant coach John Morstad.

Washington recently visited Tulsa, but has not received an offer, Morstad said.

Destiny Christian won the OCSAA Class 3A state championship in the fall.
