High school notebook: Jenks' Jessica Washington named McDonald's All-American

Washington is one of three North Carolina signees to participate in All-America games. She joins Midwest City's Richa Jackson (2010) and Sapulpa's Alyssia Brewer (2008) and Earnesia Williams (2005) in earning McDonald's All-American honors.

Five of the coaches — Deer Creek's David Riden (boys cross country), Mount St. Mary's Francois Boda (boys soccer), Bristow's Misti Roberts (spirit), Duncan's Phil Barnes (girls tennis) and Tulsa Kelley's Jerri Berna — were also named regional coaches of the year.

Oklahoma's region also includes Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.

Also honored were: Carl Albert's Wayne Dozier (baseball), Shawnee's Wendi Wells (girls basketball), Forgan's Todd Kerr (boys basketball), Coweta's Toby Hummingbird (girls cross country), Wayne's Brandon Sharp (football), Tulsa Union's Lindsay Jones (girls golf), Heritage Hall's Andy Bogert (boys golf), Verdigris' Stacy Risenhoover (girls soccer), Savanna's Angela Wilson (softball), Bixby's Monika Meadows (girls swimming), Tulsa Union's David Lynn (boys swimming), Ada's Skip Griese (boys tennis), Edmond Santa Fe's Carl Hawkins (girls track), Elgin's Jon Hughes (boys track and field) and Broken Arrow's Shawn Jones (wrestling).
