High school notebook: Kendal Thompson, Josh Turner, Kameron Doolittle among All-American nominees

The Cyclones faced Tulsa Holland Hall in the championship and run-ruled their rival 11-1. Senior pitcher Cale Shivers worked six innings to earn the win, while Ryan Shelley led the way offensively with two hits and two RBIs. Pitching was the story in the first two games as Matt Silver was dominant in allowing one run on four hits in a 3-1 win against St. Mary’s Hall (San Antonio), while Mason Roberts threw a six-inning shutout and had two RBIs in a 10-0 win against Dallas Greenhill.

PC West’s Bounds signs with Robert Morris
As it turns out, Putnam City West has three NCAA Division I basketball players on its campus.

Danielle Bounds signed this week to play basketball for Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Penn. She was the third PC West basketball player to sign with a D-I program this season, following boys standouts Amric Fields (TCU) and Tyler Neal (Oklahoma).

Bounds was among the top scorers in Class 6A at 14.4 points per game, shooting 38.6 percent from 3-point range. She joins a Robert Morris team that is the defending Northeast Conference regular-season champion.

Bennett earns gold
Casady sophomore Graham Bennett won the discus throw at the Southwest Prep Conference Championships last weekend. Bennett earned the victory with a throw of 147 feet, 4 inches. It is Casady’s first gold medal in track since 2005.
