High school notebook: Midwest City dominates in Kansas 7-on-7 competition

Midwest City football coach Steve Huff didn't waste any time. The minute he heard the Oklahoma Showdown 7-on-7 event was canceled, he found another opportunity for his kids.

The Bombers went 6-0 in a 7-on-7 competition in Kansas last weekend.

“It was a good chance for the kids to get back out there and get some quality time in,” Huff said.

The offense needs all the reps it can get as the Bombers are practically have to reload at every spot, except for at running back, where they have Tulsa commit James Flanders.

Midwest City will be joined by other Oklahoma teams Broken Arrow and Heritage Hall at the prestigious 7-on-7 event in Springdale, Ark., in July.

BASKETBALL COMBINE SATURDAY 

High school football combines have become quite popular over the last few years, and now, some of the state's top basketball players will get a chance to showcase their skills in a similar event.

OKHoops.com is hosting a skills and competition combine Saturday at Douglass High School, with several of the state's top prospects, like Douglass' Stephen Clark, Ardmore's Nino Jackson and Edmond Memorial's James and Jordan Woodard among the potential attendees.
