The Mustang boys soccer team remained unbeaten on the season with a 3-2 victory over Bishop McGuinness on Tuesday night in the Broncos' district opener.
Josh Bannoy scored two goals, and Colton Haskin netted the game-winner as the Broncos improved to 4-0 on the season after going just 1-12 last year.
Mustang hosts Guymon at 8 p.m. in the first round of the Bronco Cup on Thursday. The Broncos then meet Bixby on Friday and Norman on Saturday.
Mustang's girls are also unbeaten on the season and are winning with outstanding defense.
Goalkeepers Abby Karbes and Brandi Hutchison share time at the net and have combined for shutouts in the Lady Broncos last two wins, both 1-0 victories over Bishop McGuinness and Carl Albert.
Lexi Jones scored the only goal for Mustang in both games. The Lady Broncos held Bishop McGuinness to only four shots on goal in Tuesday night's win.
In their previous game, the Lady Broncos held Carl Albert to zero shots on goal in the second half.
“We are very proud of our defense,” Mustang coach Mike Mason said. “We have kids that will scrap with you. They are proud of not getting scored on anymore than we have.”
Mustang has allowed just three goals in four games. The Lady Broncos defeated Yukon, 6-2, and Putnam North, 3-1, earlier this season.
