Norman North quarterback David Cornwell's spot in the Under Armour All-America game becomes official this week when the Alabama commit is presented with his game jersey on Wednesday.
Cornwell will be presented with the jersey Wednesday morning during the Under Armour/American Family Insurance selection tour.
Of course, Cornwell probably has more relevant things on his mind this week as the Timberwolves try to bounce back from the opening-week loss to rival Norman High. Norman North visits Class 5A's Del City, which is coming off a big win at Tulsa East Central in Week 1.
SIMPKINS DEALS WITH DEHYDRATION
Clinton junior running back Marquiz Simpkins never felt right Thursday night against Lawton MacArthur.
He still got off to an electric start for the Red Tornadoes with TD runs off 77 and 60 yards before having to miss time while suffering from dehydration.
“I think we were in control at first until I got sick,” he said.
Clinton was leading 13-7 when he exited in the first. He didn't return until the third quarter when MacArthur was leading 14-13 before scoring 17 points in the fourth for the 31-13 victory.
Simpkins, who has a scholarship offer from Tulsa, finished with 157 yards on 11 carries. He also said he learned his lesson and is now working to avoid the same issue in the future by drinking a lot of water.
STALLWORTH HAS CAREER NIGHT
It's well known that Cushing senior Gage Stallworth is going to get the ball often after scoring 37 touchdowns last season.
Friday night, Stallworth started working on topping that total.
Mannford had no answer for the 5-foot-9, 185-pound running back as he rushed for 344 yards and six touchdowns in the Tigers' 47-32 victory.
“Everybody knows in the stadium he's going to get it,” Cushing coach Barrett Shupe said. “That's what I think is most impressive. The O-line, we've challenged them and they understand everybody is going to be gunning for our run game and they did a great job of establishing it.”
Stallworth didn't stop when he wasn't on offense, though. He also had 59 return yards, putting his all-purpose yards at a total of 403.
