High school notebook: Oil Bowl set for June 9

You can bet the Oil Bowl crowd will get a good look at a dangerous rushing attack when the Oklahoma all-stars take on the Texas all-stars in the 75th edition of the annual football game.

Among the players listed on the Oklahoma roster are standout running backs James Flanders of Midwest City, Casey Curtis of Putnam City, Luke Davis of Guthrie and The Oklahoman's Player of the Year, Sheldon Wilson of Anadarko.

The 75th Oil Bowl Classic will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 9 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

LITTLE ALL-CITY BASKETBALL GAMES THURSDAY

The Little All-City basketball games will be played Thursday at Redlands Community College in El Reno.

The girls game will tip of at 6:30 p.m. with the boys game to follow, with a 3-point and free throw contest at halftime of each game. Centennial boys coach Scott Raper and Northeast girls coach Londaryl Perry will be honored as The Oklahoman's Little All-City Coaches of the Year.

Players of the Year Stephen Clark and Te'era Williams, both of Douglass, will be honored as well.

MEMORIAL LEARNED FROM SLOW START

Last season, Edmond Memorial started its football season 0-3 but improved as the season went along. The Bulldogs nearly earned a playoff berth.
