The Mid-State and Metro Athletic Conferences recently announced their boys basketball postseason awards, honoring Putnam City West’s Omega Harris and Midwest City’s Torey Noel as their top players.
Harris, who averaged nearly 20 points per game for the Class 6A runner-up Patriots, was named the conference MVP of the Metro Conference. Noel was the Mid-State MVP after averaging more than 15 points per game for the state semifinalist Bombers.
This was the last basketball season for the two conferences, which are set to be restructured as the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference and the Oklahoma Big 10 Conference for next year.
OKLAHOMA WRESTLING SENIORS IMPRESS AT DAPPER DAN
A team of Oklahoma seniors picked up a 37-10 dual victory over seniors from the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League at the Dapper Dan Classic in Pittsburgh last Sunday.
It was Oklahoma’s first time since 1983 to participate in the event, which is know as the “Rose Bowl of Wrestling.” It was the worst loss for the WPIAL in the event’s history.
